Summary: Set 20 years into the future, Australia has slowly descended into fascism. The Government rules the people with an iron fist, and the winged humans, created by The Government in a past incarnation, has become the newest threat to national security. Not even recognised as human by the State, the winged humans decide it’s time to fight back after one of their leaders is captured by the Army and made an example of, heralding in a new era of tightened security, aggressive oppression, and the all-pervasive Armed Forces ruthlessly hunting down anything with wings, whether they can fly or not. The plot is set. Overthrow this vicious Government and end twenty years of tyranny. The axe falls on November 29th, but can a small army of winged humans overthrow the might of a Government prepared to do anything to remain in power?

Summary: Inspired by the song of the sane name by The Decemberists, it tells the story of Spanish Royals and an abandoned baby and the quest to regain honour and respect. Or something like that. XD

The Muses:
These are the three bastards responsible for my writing. So if you don't like it, blame them. :P

Andrew:

Likes challenging me to see how badly I can break him and have him still recover his sanity. Is annoyed I'm not a musician. Angsty. Seems to like deathfic. Probably emo.

Craig:

Alpha male. Snarky. Vain. Arrogant. Self-absorbed. Edits my work on the run. Barges into fic he's not supposed to be in. Takes over my brain. Is always barefoot, for some strange reason. Always has wings because he thinks they enhance his sex appeal.

Charles:

Very polite and never demands anything, apart from exclusive rights to Andrew. Can be a bit of a sissy. Doesn't readily admit his penchant for dresses and being a submissive little shit. Looks after Andrew.

Doing steampunk this year. Because apparently I suck at resisting a challenge. XD Thanks, bewarethespork, much appreciated. :P

It'll be fanfic again. The Chaser, because that was what Jay suggested. XD

- cameos from Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood and Bev Bevan  as scavengers/pirates (first people Andrew meets when he returns)(And this is only here because of watching tiny!Jeff in a pirate hat and eye patch performing in ~1971 and it amused me too much not to include it somehow. XD)(He was bouncing around! It was adorable. XD)
- Julian Morrow and Chas Licciardello (soldiers in the Loyal Birmingham Volunteers Corp, founded in 1802 by Charles' father and used to by Charles when he takes over his late father's estate to keep the peace during the crisis)(Yes, this allows for epic adventures, dammit. XD)

NaNo is going nowhere. Have no inspiration for it. Spent an hour or so this evening writing up a summary post about The Infanta fic tonight instead. May post that later tonight, just to make that strange tiny summary in my bio make more sense.

Blogging is going fine. I've been posting every day, even if some days I have to struggle to find something to write about. Still got there in the end.

Also, anyone remember this charming little plot? Well, I got prodded into writing it again. And not have it turn into random dystopia. XD That's going alright, too. We'll see how that turns out. And yes, I'm rewriting the poker match. :P

I think some of the pairings are going to change, but that's okay. It'll all work out in the end, I'm sure.

ETA: Yes, this has become a journal for me to blog about my writing, NaNo or otherwise. Just because. :P

Still working on them, but here they are so far.

Francis Xavier: tiny cute 18 year old gay uni student. Xavier isn't his last name, but he likes it better. Likes raves and long scarves.

Chloe Mildura: tall 20-something graphics artist, freelance cartoonist and amateur burlesque performer. Changes her hair to match her mood.

Damon Kenthurst: 25 year old metal head, drummer and martial artist. Not entirely sure what he does, apart from bash on his drums, drink and polish his precious katana. Bit of a lazy rebel.

They're all characters that have come into being in the last year or two, and they spent all day badgering me into writing them and developing them properly.

As for the plot, I adopted it from one aMUTINOUSmind posted in the Adopt a Plot thread on the NaNo boards and have had fun tweaking it for my own purposes.

And don't get me started on titles. I haven't even thought that far ahead yet. XD

Here, in a million dot points, is my plot, I'd say 85% fleshed out. So yay for me!

Ahh, I know exactly how I'll manage this plot problem. Chris/Craig was always going to be backstory for Pictures Of You, but I can go back even further than that and include Chris/Andrew as back history as well, since I have a feeling it impacts on how Chris treats Craig when they're together.

Right, so now my plot stretches not over about four years, but close to 10. Wonderful. That should fill up 50,000 words no problem. XD

Well, I've been working on my plot all week. IT's funny, my original idea was ChaserxPangaea, but it was beginning to sound a lot like the plot for a certain favourite book of mine, and while amusing, it wasn't a 50k idea.

Running with The Chaser theme and it's associated plotbhunnies, the second idea I had was exploring Chris/Craig as a sort of prequel to Pictures Of You, the second part of which I need to post to my fanfics journal. I do want to write it at some point, since Pictures Of You is about their break-up, and it seems unfair to not write about their relationship as well.

But, as much as I loved that idea, Chris/Andrew kept nagging at me, especially after writing Damaged People. I wanted to find out exactly what they were referring to in that fic.

So out comes the most nagging and persistent plotbunny so far: Chris/Andrew uni!fic, set somewhere in the vacinity of 93-97, give or take a few months or so. I'm still getting the plot sorted out, but it'll be long and angsty and ... filled with trouble. I mean, really, you just need to read Damaged People to see that. That seems to be what it's describing, that time at uni, and now it seems I have to tell that story. Yay.

Andrew's being ... helpful. Craig's finally shut up at last. And Chris needs to start talking or I'll poke him some more. He's letting Andrew do all the talking. *pokes the lot of them* You'd better all start helping me get this plot into shape, or I won't write it at all. I don't need to know it down to every little plot detail, but a nice overview of events would be nice so I know where I'm going with this. XD Silly boys.

So, I get to research shit, interesting shit, and hopefully come out with something resembling a happy ending, though considering the whole mood of the piece, I'm not sure that's possible. Ah well.

Thought I'd nut this out here at last, now I have some idea of what I'm writing. Since I only have two events cemented in my head, a proper plot outline will have to wait, but yeah. That's the general gist of things.
