Author's Notes: Written in fits and starts. Eventually finished it. Also, I thought I'd already posted this, but apparently not.
Summary: Adam, Hamish, isolation, picnic, you get the idea. Lots of fluffy sweetness.
Sensation/Perception
Adam lies back in the sun on the picnic rug, closing his eyes. Hamish sits beside him, gazing at the view. They’ve gone to some hidden parkland area for some time alone. Adam breathes deeply, the smell of grass, eucalyptus and wattle hanging in the air. The birds twittering away add to the serenity of the spot. It’s a beautiful day, with a vivid blue sky hanging above them, sporting a few wispy white feathery clouds.
The silence broken only by the birdsong is different. It’s different from the silence in the city or the silence in the suburbs. This is as close as you get to real silence, where the white noise almost ceases to exist. The only noise in the air now is birdsong and insect noise and the soft caressing of the wind coercing the leaves to sway gently.
“It’s lovely out here,” Hamish murmurs, taking in the view. The heat of the day isn’t that great, nor is it chilly. There’s a taste of summer in the air, confirmation that winter is long gone.
“Mmm-hmm,” Adam answers noncommittally, remaining where he is with his eyes closed to the world.
“You’d better not fall asleep on me. How else will I entertain myself?” Hamish says, glancing down at him, seeing him smile lazily as he speaks.
“I’m sure you’ll find something to do,” Adam muses.
Hamish leans down and presses his lips against Adam’s. Well, it’s something to do, isn’t it? Adam kisses back as lazily as he had smiled, feeling Hamish’s warm skin against his own. Adam moans appreciatively in his throat, tasting the remnants of their lunch on Hamish’s tongue. Hamish shifts on the rug and lies beside him, managing to keep kissing him. Adam grabs his upper arm with one hand and guides him down as he rolls on top of him, pinning Hamish down.
“Still bored?” Adam drawls, staring down at him.
“Hmm, not anymore, love.” Hamish grins back at him.
The shift in position brings with it a shift in sensations. There's a growing warmth from being so close to Adam, and the soft breeze picks up and brushes against his skin, making him shiver. Adam begins pressing gentle soft kisses on his neck, barely making contact with his skin. Hamish closes his eyes and lays his head back, letting the sensations take over as Adam barely touches him with his fingers, increasing his reaction to the soft caressing of the breeze.
The sunlight brightens as it emerges from behind a cloud, sending warmth down onto their bodies as Adam kisses his skin. Hamish is barely aware of Adam undressing him, so focussed on Adam's careful attention. Arousal spreads all over his body. Adam kisses down his chest in preparation, enjoying the smell of his skin.
Hamish gasps as Adam begins paying attention to his neglected cock, fingers carefully wrapping around him as he gently sucks the head. Hamish gets the hint that this is all for him. He lies back and groans appreciatively as Adam works him slowly, somehow intensifying the pleasure he’s feeling a hundredfold just through his careful, slow attention.
A blissful peace comes over Hamish as he comes, a hand tangled in Adam’s curly hair as he relaxes in the sunlight. He’s warm and loved and happy now. Adam cleans him and crawls up beside him, a finger tracing random patterns across his chest. Adam rests his head on Hamish’s shoulder, eyes closed as he succumbs to the sunshine.
Hamish wants to say something, but decides against it. He’s warm and happy and the silence of the bush is too pretty to be disturbed. He presses a kiss to Adam’s head and takes his hand in his. It’s enough.
A magpie calls, trilling it’s voice through the air. A second replies. Hamish watches them fly past. The wind picks up a little, sending goose bumps all over his skin.
Adam feels him shivering and looks up at him. “Oh, so now you’re cold, hey?” he says with a grin.
“Well, just a little,” Hamish says.
“Well, we could always go and find somewhere warmer to play,” Adam says.
“Why spoil it? It’s a lovely day out here, and I’m big enough to deal with a little wind,” Hamish says as he sits up and reaches for his jeans.
“Want some coffee?” Adam says, sitting up with him.
“Yeah, that sounds nice,” Hamish says.
Adam gives him a quick kiss before getting out the thermos of hot water to make coffee. Hamish dresses and sits down on the rug again, watching Adam.
“Want some strawberries?” Adam says, handing him a small punnet.
“That would be lovely. It would be even lovelier if you fed them to me,” Hamish says.
Adam leans over and takes a strawberry in his hand and offers it to Hamish. Hamish bites into it, the slightly tangy sweetness making the day complete.
“You really know how to spoil me, Adam,” Hamish says.
“Anything for you, love,” Adam says, handing him a mug of steaming freshly brewed coffee.
Hamish smells it before taking a sip, the sudden heat of the liquid a stark contrast to the cool strawberry that went before it. The sun’s heat intensifies in synch, sending heat down onto his back. The birdsong twitters around them in the sunlight, the leaves dance around on thin branches, and the soft breeze caresses them both like a hug. Life can't get any more perfect than this.
