Bleed Like Me
It was the darkness Tony had sought when he’d taken a stand against Gwen’s taunting. He had run off into the city, looking for adventure. What he’d found was a prostitute, and he’d begged for work. Tony agreed, and fucked him before leaving his body lying behind a dumpster.
He couldn’t remember how long he’d been a vampire. Too long, he thought. It had relieved him of the emotional burden Gwen liked giving him and if he felt no guilt for dumping her, she couldn’t get to him. He just didn’t care, in spite of her efforts to win him back. In the end, it became like a game, and Tony just tried to see how far he could lead her along. They’d even started sleeping together again when Gwen’s boyfriend was out of town.
Still, Tony was beginning to tire of it. It was a game with no end. Perched by a window in his little flat, where he ran to when he needed space, he pondered his options. Another prostitute lay half-dead at his feet, a snack he hadn’t wanted to finish because even though she reminded him of Gwen, it had ceased to be an attraction. He would probably break her neck at some point and put her out of her misery.
“Ton, please, don’t goad her. You know she’ll just fight back,” Tom said quietly as he approached him.
“What else am I supposed to do? She hurts me more than I’ve ever hurt her,” Tony said.
“How is that any excuse?” Tom said. He rested a hand on his shoulder and gazed out the window with him.
“How else do I get rid of the pain? Tragic Kingdom was enough. It didn’t need to continue,” Tony said.
Tom lifted him to his feet and smiled at him. Tony looked up at him and wondered why he was still around. “Come to bed. I’ll make things better.”
Lost for other options, Tony agreed. He sat up in bed afterwards, wondering when he’d find some peace, while Tom slept naked beside him. He switched on the TV. He flicked through the channels until he found something worth watching. It acted as anaesthetic to his troubled mind.
Gwen shivered as a chill entered the room and drew her jacket closer around her. She had been up here for the past hour, lost in her thoughts. Tony had been avoiding her for the past week, and it had hurt more than she’d expected. She hadn’t thought she’d been that hard on him. It had seemed like the same friendly teasing she’d always done. Apparently she’d misread her best friend, and he’d gone off in a huff and refused to see her.
She shivered again as hands clasped her arms gently. She hadn’t even heard the footsteps on the carpet. Cold breath on her neck confirmed her suspicions as to who was behind her. There was a soft growl in her ear before he spoke.
“I could kill you now if I wanted to,” Tony whispered.
Gwen flinched as she felt Tony’s canines lightly scraping the back of her neck. “Could but won’t. Where have you been?” she said, sounding braver than she felt.
“Around. Why? Did you miss me?”
“I always miss you, even when you go off sulking.”
“Always so tender-hearted, Gwen. Makes you so easy to manipulate.”
Gwen turned to face him. She still wasn’t used to the grotesque features of the demon’s face. She cupped his cheek and tried to find a trace of the man she once loved.
“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” Tony said.
“What do you want, Ton? Is this going somewhere?” Gwen said.
“Come with me. I know when you need me,” Tony said.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Gwen said.
Tony hugged her close and inhaled her scent. It was a heady mix of lust, pheromones, desire and loneliness. The urge to bite into her was becoming too great to resist, but he held back. There would be time for revenge later. Instead, he took her hand and led her to her bedroom.
There were moments when Gwen couldn’t resist him. There were times when he brushed her arm or stroked her hair and she fell back in love with him again. The door shutting the rest of the house out, Gwen kissed him. He was right. She needed him. It had been too long.
Tony was always gentle with her when they slept together. There was still something inside him that was disgusted at the thought of hurting her. He seduced her all over again, undressing her inch by inch as he pressed soft kisses to her skin. His movements disguised his intentions, lulling her into believing he was still capable of loving her.
It was a deception Gwen was more than willing to embrace. There were too many old memories in her mind to cement her in the present. She held him close and wished he would stay forever. He pushed inside her gently, drawing out his pleasure. She cupped his face and kissed him as she let orgasm take over. He held her close as he pulled out and trailed his fingers across her skin.
“Don’t you ever leave me,” Gwen murmured.
“I can arrange that,” Tony said.
And then he bit her, and she was so shocked, she said nothing. He pinned her down hard, bruising her wrists. For a moment, he considered siring her, but decided against it. Tony fed furiously, utterly focussed on her demise. He sat up as she fell back, limp and cold, a small trickle of blood coming from the wound in her neck. Tony wiped his mouth and gazed at her. In the end, she was just another victim, another meal, just like the rest.
Tom was waiting for him when he got back to his flat. Tony glanced at him and headed off to his room. At the slamming of his door, Tom left. There was nothing left to say.
Tony sat on his bed, staring at the wall. Finally giving in to his desire to get rid of the woman who’d been sticking pins in him for years, he felt… hollow. Unwilling to sit around in his flat sulking, God knows he’d done enough of that lately, he opened the window and climbed down into the night, looking for something to do.
